Chartered in 1959, this league is part of an international nonprofit organization. The JLG has 900 women members, over age 21, committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  It has designed and established a variety of services for the community and administers them for two to ten years.  The projects are then turned over to an existing agency or organization, become independent, or United Way agencies.
